Mixed & Adult Classes
Most lessons start with an aerobic exercise, skipping, shadow boxing, stretching, followed by an anaerobic exercise, press-ups, sit-ups, squats etc. After the warm up the class progresses to Muay Thai training which can consist of many different areas e.g. Basic drills including stance and correct guarding position, self defence routines, bagwork, padwork and partner training. You will also be taught how to use the equipment in a safe & correct manner. In all classes we encourage discipline & respect in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
Private Tuition
Private personal tuition is one of the best ways for anyone to learn anything and is in fact one of the main things we specialise in at the club. The training is geared specifically to you and your individual needs which vary from student to student. Everyone is different, so with your own personal trainer you will learn at a much more accelerated rate. This is due to being trained more intensely, this eliminating any bad form before it becomes set in your technique. The classes can be held at most times during the day, evening or at weekends by appointment only. You can choose to train 1-2-1 in total privacy or with a small group of friends. You may have your own areas you wish to concentrate on. Whatever your requirements your personal trainer can cater for your needs.
Sparring Class
Training is stepped up to encourage students to advance their fitness level. They work to skip harder and faster to advance their limits of strength, power and endurance. In this class students will be sparring under the close supervision of Kru David McRobb. Protective gear is worn by all students to avoid injuries.
Amatuer (Interclub)
Held on a regular basis at SIMTA HQ in Manchester. This is where students from the Teesside club freespar against students from other clubs/teams, hence 'Inter-club'. This helps the fighter gain valuable experience. There is controlled contact and each fighter receives a winner's trophy with no decision and no loser. Protective equipment is worn and no one receives injuries. The protective equipment consists of headguard, gumshield, bodyshield, extra padded 18oz boxing gloves, groinguard and shinpads.
Amatuer National Competitions
Some Students progress onto national competitions with full contact strikes. Full protection is worn by both fighters to minimize injury.
Proffesional Muay Thai Competitions
This involves 'full contact' strikes and the aim is to knockout the opponent. Very few students ever progress onto this much higher level, but for those who do, the rewards can be high with opportunities to fight abroad and even for titles on a Regional, National and World class level.
